Let’s talk about wedding invitation etiquette on this Monday morning.

One part of wedding planning that I loved was creating my wedding invitations. Maybe it’s because it’s what I do…or maybe it’s because I knew that my invitations were the first thing my guests were going to see. It was what would basically “brand” my wedding. It would be a first impression! 

Here are some things to keep in mind when deciding what your beautiful invitations will look like:

  1. Like I mentioned above, invitations are a first impression. They must tell your guests what the style and feel of the ceremony and reception will be. It will set the tone for the dress code (or no dress code), it will be a clue as to what the guests can expect.
  2. They must be individualized! Your wedding day is all about YOU! They need to tell a story– what you love, who you are and what is important to you.
  3. Timeline of when the Save the Dates and invitations will be sent out is very important. You want to give your guests enough time to decide if they will be able to make it. Here is a free download to help you stay on track of when to send out what.
  4. Handwritten thank you notes! Handwritten! I cannot stress enough how important that is. One of those generic “Thank you for the lovely wedding gift” just doesn’t cut it girls. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it takes extra effort. But your guests will be so much more grateful for a thank you note that is sincere and addressed to them. And Emily Post says to send them out within 3 months of receiving the gift. That’s more than enough time! You got this. Want some super cute thank you cards?
