Woodworking is not for girls

Well, that's what most people think. That's not what I think.

In fact, have you ever done some sort of woodworking? It's actually quite relaxing! The smell of fresh cut wood, focusing on using the tool you are using the best that you can, realizing that what you learn in CrossFit is translating to everyday movements of lifting things.

Now when it comes to woodworking, I learned basically everything I know from my dad. What I didn't learn from my dad, I googled and then verified with my dad. You see, my dad is a carpenter in his past time. Engineer by day, carpenter by weekend. I'm telling you, he can build ANYTHING. It's quite amazing actually!

So I needed a desk to work at during the day so I built a standing desk. Here it is. It works wonderfully for me!

I had an extra piece of wood, so I made this sign.

I posted it on social media and to my surprise, people LOVED it! So I started making more of these wood signs. I prayed that God would bless the work of my hands, that these signs would get into the hands of the right people that needed them, that people would be receptive to my art and that maybe, and just possibly, I could spread the love of Jesus through art & woodworking.

These signs combine all of my favorite things-- Jesus, typography, woodworking, craft, skill, imperfect perfection, beauty, art and coffee. All in one. I think that's called passion. I always knew there was something more to Good Measure Creative than JUST graphic design. I prayed that God would give me a clear vision of how I could reach people with His word. I believe this is just the start. This is just a fraction of the art I will create and help others to create so that they too can know the love of God.

I do take custom orders so if you don't see one that you like, send me a message! I will be happy to make a custom one for you.

And if you want to learn how to make these signs, be on the lookout! I have dreams of teaching :)

XOXO,
Marisa
